Neighborhood Map

I have put together a Google map of the neighborhood located at:

https://www.nscna.org/maps/index.html

You should also see it to the right in the sidebar. Called “NSCNA Map”

There is a main toggle/legend box at the top left corner. It has 5 checkbox options:

– NSCNA Members
– Apartments
– Subdivisions
– Yard of the Month
– Block Captains

The top right corner contains three map switches, Map, Satellite and Hybrid. The default is Map, but if you click Satellite or Hybrid, you will get to zoom in and see your actual house, streets, cars, trees, etc.

NSCNA Members checkbox:
When checked, it displays all current 2007 NSCNA members who have paid their $15 dues, with a marker placed on each of their houses. This graphically shows who in the neighborhood is a member and lets you see who lives close to you that is also a member. It also shows us which parts of the neighborhood have few NSCNA participants. Click the marker to see the resident’s name, address and what role they play with the NSCNA, if any.

Apartments checkbox:
Displays a marker for each of the surrounding apartment complexes located within the NSCNA neighborhood. Click the marker to see a picture of the complex as well as address, phone number, number of units, etc.

Subdivisions checkbox:
Displays each of the 6 subdivisions of the NSCNA. Places a shaded polygon around each boundary and places one marker that contains information on when that subdivision was constructed.

Yard of the Month checkbox:
Displays the past winners of the Yard of the Month award. Gives the name and address of the winner and what date they won. If we have a photo of the winning house’s yard, it will also be displayed in the marker window. If you are a past winner and are now shown, please let me know and I will add you. I could only find a few past winners… so I am looking for other past winners.

Block Captains checkbox:
Displays a marker for each of the different blocks. The marker contains the name of who is the block captain for that block and will eventually contain contact information. It also shows which blocks are missing a block captain.. if you are interested in filling one of these spots, please let Mary Arnett (safety@nscna.org) know.

There are a lot of markers… so the map can get very busy but you can turn off and on each of the 5 categories in the toggle panel…

Have fun and let me know if any information is incorrect… I know I may have placed a few markers one house to the left or right… so it is not perfect, but I will gladly fix any errors you come across.
