The Get Your Rear in Gear 5K and Kids 1K (http://www.getyourrearingear.com/) is scheduled for Sunday April 6, 2008. The Get Your Rear in Gear 5K and Kids K is presented by The Colon Cancer Coalition, a local non profit 501(c)3, RunTex, RaceWorks and other local sponsors. This event will draw about 300 runners to the Shoal Creek and Steck Ave. area.
Mild traffic congestion resulting in some inconvenience to you may be anticipated on race day. Runners will start gathering at 7:30am at 8015 Shoal Creek and the race will begin at 8:30 am on Shoal Creek. The route will utilize Shoal Creek to Cross Creek, Burnet, Ashdale and Steck Ave.
Lane closures will start at 7:00 am along Shoal Creek between Anderson and Cross Creek Dr. Other lanes will begin closing at 7:30am. All east-west intersections on the race route will remain open to motor vehicle traffic but intersections will be manned by officers of the Austin Police Department and traffic will be controlled when runners are on the course in the area. Following the last runner around 9:30am all lanes along the course will reopen to motor vehicle traffic. None of the roads along the race route will be closed completely to motor vehicle traffic; We ask that you use caution when driving along the race route when runners are present between 8:00am and 9:30am.
