Membership Approves Neighborhood Partnering Program Application

At our Sept. 21st Special Membership Meeting, NSCNA members voted to approve applying to the City of Austin’s Neighborhood Partnering Program (NPP). The NPP proposal NSCNA will submit to the City includes the following:
. a community garden to be constructed in the southwest corner of the Pillow Elementary School playground;
. beautification of traffic calming bulb-outs on Rockwood;
. beautification and neighborhood “branding” of two neighborhood bridges (the large one of Steck and the smaller one on Rockwood);
. construction of approximately 750 linear feet of high priority missing sidewalks in North Shoal Creek.

The slides from NSCNA VP Sarah Brandon’s presentation at the Wednesday evening meeting have been posted on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/nscna/

They provide details and cost estimates along with examples of proposed landscape designs for the garden and mosaic designs for bridge beautification. Please take a look at Sarah’s presentation.

This is an exciting opportunity to beautify our neighborhood while at the same time raising its profile by adding some unique and colorful mosaics to our neighborhood’s bridges.

A lot of volunteer help will be needed to make this project a success.  We urge all North Shoal Creek residents to please get involved and stay involved.
