The Funky Chicken Coop Tour starts this weekend, on Saturday, April 3. Austin-area residents are inviting the public into their backyards to see their chickens and chicken coops. They will also be on hand to answer questions. It is legal to raise chickens within the Austin city limits, and it has become a growing trend as people turn toward organic gardening and a more sustainable future.
A mobile chicken coop will also be raffled off to one lucky winner. Visit the information center located at Buck Moore Feed and Supply to enter the drawing.
There are five chicken coops nearby in the Allandale, Crestview and Brentwood neighborhoods and a total of 17 stops throughout Austin. View the map here.
This is a free, self-guided tour that runs from 10 am – 4 pm. The tour will go on rain or shine.
