  • Reminder: North Shoal Creek’s Annual Luminaria Walk is Monday Dec. 19th, 6-8pm at the Pillow School Track. Come enjoy the luminarias set up around the track plus hot chocolate and cookies under the pavilion.
Also: We need about 20 volunteers to help set up before and clean up after. If you can help set up, please come to Pillow’s pavilion at 3 pm; or, stay a few extra minutes after 8 pm to help pick up and disassemble the luminarias. Please email socialchair@nscna.org to say you’ll be volunteering with either set up or clean up.
Our Luminaria Sponsors this year are Connor Finnigan of christmasmusic.com and Charlotte Whalen of Verts Mediterranean Grill, 2438 W. Anderson Lane. Conner will be supplying the cookies and hot chocolate and Verts chips and hummus for the volunteers. Thank you very much, Charlotte and Connor!

Yes, it’ll be cold, but it’ll be fun! Stop by, help out, and enjoy the camaraderie.

    Hope to see you there!

  • Thanks to all who came out to the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Plan meeting on December 3rd! At the meeting we discussed your vision for the future of each corridor area in the neighborhood. As a follow-up, we have revised the visual preference survey from the meeting based on your concerns. The revised survey should be quicker and easier to take, and will help us determine what kind of development regulations are appropriate for different areas of North Shoal Creek.

You can take the revised survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/northshoalcreekVPS. Feel free to retake the survey, even if you participated at the meeting on December 3rd. Also, please forward this survey link to all of your neighbors in North Shoal Creek. The survey should take roughly 15 minutes to complete, and is essential to establishing character districts for your neighborhood. The survey will be open until January 8th, 2017.

To see more about the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Plan, please visit www.austintexas.gov/northshoalcreek. Here you can find background on the neighborhood, presentations from previous meetings, and input we have collected from our first three meetings. If you have any questions about the process, or would like to provide input for a meeting you missed, please contact Jeff Engstrom. Stay tuned for information about the next neighborhood meeting on January 21st, 2017!
Have a warm December and a Happy New Year!

Just sending around a reminder that Public Works will be holding meetings on the $19 million in mobility improvements for Burnet Road and North Lamar that they are planning on implementing. Please remind your communities and any other interested folks as you see fit.

(This should put the cap on the 2012 bond funds for these corridors; the corridors will continue to see major investments in the coming years through the recently passed 2016 bond.)

    Meeting information:

    North Lamar Meeting

Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 PM

    ARC Community Church

  •  We apologize for the late notice, but those of us interested in CodeNEXT and density bonuses have two opportunities to learn more via two Density Bonus Stakeholder Meetings. The same information will be presented at both meetings:

    Tues., Dec. 6th, 6-7:30 pm
Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office, Room 400A
    1000 E. 11th St., Austin TX 78702

    Wed., Dec. 7th, 8-9:15am
City Hall Executive Session Room, Room 1027
    301 W. 2nd St. Austin, TX 78701

CodeNext staff will present their findings from their analysis of the potential for density bonus programs in Austin. Since density is especially prescribed for corridors and Burnet Road is a corridor, these finding may affect North Shoal Creek (and all the other neighborhoods along Burnet Road).

This link provides additional information: http://www.austintexas.gov/news/second-m…

For more information, contact Lauren Avioli at lauren.avioli@austintexas.gov or (512) 974-3100.

  • The following is copied from a recent email:

The City of Austin invites you to attend one of two stakeholder meetings to learn about the CodeNEXT process for analyzing the City’s potential density bonuses aimed at producing affordable housing. Consultants will provide preliminary insights about density bonuses in different areas of the city.

As part of their work, the consultants have compiled preliminary development assumptions for areas around the City using CoStar and inputs from local Austin real estate professionals. We invite you to provide input on key assumptions and to review preliminary findings of the density bonus analysis.

Density Bonus Stakeholder Meetings (same information at both meetings)

    Tuesday, December 6, 2016, 6:00pm-7:30pm
Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office, Room 400A
    1000 E. 11th St., Austin, TX 78702

    Added: Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 8:00am-9:15am
City Hall Executive Session Room, Room 1027
    301 W. 2nd St., Austin, TX 78701

We are asking for stakeholders to review the description of the data collected (memo here (http://www.austintexas.gov/sites/default/files/files/NHCD/Public_Notice/EcoNW_DensBonus_CoverMemo.pdf?mc_cid=073766d255&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) ) and maps (http://www.austintexas.gov/sites/default/files/files/NHCD/Public_Notice/EcoNW_DensBonus_MapPackage.pdf?mc_cid=073766d255&mc_eid=[UNIQID]) of the assumptions and to provide feedback if issues are found. Feedback can be provided at the Density Bonus Stakeholder Meeting on December 6th, 2016 or by email to Lauren Avioli at  lauren.avioli@austintexas.gov (mailto:lauren.avioli@austintexas.gov) .

Please share with anyone who might be interested.
