  • Public Hearing for Rezoning of Property at 8100 Burnet Road

    The public hearing for the requested rezoning of the property at 8100 Burnet Road(Ross Store and oldChuckECheeseBuilding) is scheduled to be conducted at the meeting of the City Zoning and Platting Commission beginning at 6:00 PM on February 21, 2012 as indicated above. 

    The meeting agenda lists this as item 7a. Rezoning: C14-2011-0167 – 8100 Burnet  and shows the staff Recormmendation of MF-6(CO).

    Members and other interested persons are encouraged to attend the meeting.

  • Neighborhood Resident Helps Bring Down Burglary Ring

    A big neighborhood “thank you” to local neighbor Catherine, who provided police with information critical to bringing down a burglary ring.

    KVUE reports:

    “I saw a strange vehicle, and I knew it didn’t belong in the neighborhood,” said Catherine.
    It was a pickup truck oddly parked on the street.
    “My intuition just told me something is out of order here,” she said.
    The driver told her he was waiting to hear back from a friend.
    “I didn’t verbalize to him that I thought that was a bunch of baloney,” she said.

  • Region 2 Commander’s Forum, Feb. 7

    The Austin Police Department invites citizens to the Region 2 (Northeast & Northwest) Commander’s Forum tonight.

    During the forum, APD will recognize a citizen that assisted in helping catch burglary suspects who were burglarizing homes in her neighborhood. Additionally, the Pioneer Crossing – West Neighborhood Association will be recognized for the success of their neighborhood watch program.

    Municipal Court Supervisor Rebecca Stark and Chief Prosecutor Bianca Bentzin will be in attendance as guest speakers.

    The Austin Police Department conducts Commander’s Forum meetings to share and discuss issues and concerns with residents and business owners to improve the quality of life within the Region.

  • Special Called Meeting of the NSCNA Membership, Feb. 16

    The President has called a special meeting of the membership of the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association.

    The meeting is called to discuss and take action on the proposed rezoning request for the property at 8100 Burnet Road (the Ross Store and former Chuck E Cheese location). The developers are planning a large apartment complex (270 – 300 units) with some retail facilities, and have applied for rezoning of the property from CS (general commercial) to MF-6 (the highest density multifamily residence).

    The developer has indicated that he will have a representative present to discuss the project, and answer questions.

    A special meeting is needed because we expect that the Zoning and Platting Commission will have a public hearing on the rezoning case later this month, before the NSCNA general membership meeting scheduled for March 6, 2012.

    We invite all interested residents from North Shoal Creek, as well as interested residents from Wooten and other nearby neighborhoods, to attend to learn more about this project. We will endeavor to provide opportunities for all to participate and make their comments known.

    If any action is contemplated, such as consenting to or objecting to the proposed zoning, only current members of the association will be eligible to vote. North Shoal Creek residents may join the association in advance (information here) or at the meeting.

    If you are unable to attend this meeting, you may provide comments to the association by either emailing them to development@nscna.org or postal mail to: NSCNA (attn: Development Committee), PO Box 66443, Austin TX 78766-0443. Your comments must be received by February 16 to be considered.
