NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is our nation’s premiere crime prevention event. This year, it’s Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017, from 7:00-9:00 pm. North Shoal Creek needs neighbors to step forward and host a block party or other related event for your street. The deadline to register your event is 5:00 pm, Friday, Sept. 15th
For info on registering your block party or other type of event online, go to http://www.austintexas.gov/page/national-night-out-registration#overlay-context=user
Registering early increases your chances of having police officers, firefighters, EMS paramedics or Code Compliance staff visit your event.
After you register, please email your name (optional), address (required) and time (if other than 7-9 pm) to media@nscna.org. We want to publicize all the block parties in the neighborhood and encourage neighbors to get out of the house, meet and greet each other, and show your commitment to crime prevention.
If you host an event (and we hope you will) be sure to attend this year’s National Night Out Kick-Off Event at Reagan High School on Sat. Sept. 30, 10:00am-1:00pm, to pick up free giveaways and safety information for your block party

The City Planning and Zoning Department (PAZ) released the Draft Quality of Life Element (QLE) on June 16, with a deadline of 10 days for comments. Due to the insufficient time for review of the element, plus numerous incorrect and/or objectionable items contained in the draft it was decided that NSCNA should request additional time and submit a revised QLE.
Representatives of NSCNA met with officials from PAZ, other City staff and Council Member Leslie Pool’s staff on July 12 to discuss concerns with the QLE and Neighborhood Planning process, and sent them preliminary draft working documents.
On July18 the NSCNA Development Committee finalized the revised QLE, which will be considered by the NSCNA Board of Directors on July 27. Upon approval by the board, the revised QLE will be submitted to PAZ, other City staff and Council Member Pool’s staff.
The draft QLE was announced in a June 24 posting to this website. A copy of that draft QLE can be viewed at this link:

Updated:The revised QLE, approved by the NSCNA Board of Directors July 27, can be viewed at this link:
https://www.nscna.org/committees/development/neighborhoodplan/quality_of_life_element_revised.pdf
NSCNA members and all residents of NSC are invited to review these documents and submit any comments or recommendations by email to development@nscna.org . Comments received by July 27 will be considered by the board that evening. Comments received after July 27 will be considered later.
PAZ has released other draft elements. For a complete list of draft elements, please visit the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Plan web page: http://austintexas.gov/northshoalcreek.
Current PAZ plans are to complete the plan elements and hold an open house in August, 2017.

This announcement is copied from the Brentwood Neighborhood Association’s blog. This is a joint Crestview NA and Brentwood NA meeting, but North Shoal Creek residents are invited to attend and can ask questions too.
“Mayor Steve Adler Comes to Brentwood to Discuss CodeNEXT
Wednesday, June 21st • 7pmLocation: Faith Lutheran Church Activity Center at 6600 Woodrow Ave (corner of Woodrow and Ruth)
Mayor Steve Adler will attend our joint meeting with Crestview Neighborhood Association to discuss the new CodeNEXT zoning plans and how the changes will affect Brentwood and Crestview and other surrounding neighborhoods. Our own District 7 Council member Leslie Pool will also join us. Bring your questions!”
The first of a series of Shoal Creek Trail Plan meetings is that evening too, 6-8 pm at the Cirrus Logic Conference Center (700 West Ave.). Both are important topics that affect North Shoal Creek, and we need good representation at both meetings. Please pick one and go!
