  • The Planning Commission public hearing for Case C14-2014-0156 – Mopac Rezoning, is scheduled for November 12, 6:00 PM at the City Hall Chambers, 301 West 2nd Street.

  • The October 28 Planning Commission hearing for the rezoning of 8611-1/2 & 8627 North Mopac, Case Number C14-2014-0156 was postponed to November 12. The October 25 posting on this site has been updated accordingly.


  • North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association will host an OPEN PUBLIC MEETING, November 4, 2014, 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at Pillow Elementary School, 3025 Crosscreek Drive about two pending rezoning requests for neighborhood properties:

    6:30 to 7:00 PM, Case Number: C14-2014-0156, 8611-1/2 and 8627 North Mopac Expressway. Rezoning from LO to GR was requested for two pieces of property near the current Shoal Crossing Events Center (formerly Harold’s Dress Barn and Red Barn) which is located at 8611 North Mopac. Notice of this rezoning was posted on this site earlier on October 25. A representative has agreed to be there to discuss the plans.

    7:00 to 7:30 PM: Case Number C14-2014-0157, Project Name 8528 Burnet Road. Rezoning from CS to MF-6, two properties commonly known as:
    Crump Plumbing, 8647 Rockwood Lane (Property ID 250015) and
    Gordon Automotive, 8518 Burnet Road (Property ID 245987).
    Notice of his rezoning was posted on this site on October 26 as rezoning of Crump Plumbing & Gordon Auto. A representative has been invited to attend.

    The General Membership Meeting of the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association scheduled for November 4 will be convened after the Public Meeting, at approximately 7:30 PM.
    The agenda will include consideration of the above rezoning cases and routine business.


  • Case Number C14-2014-0157, Project Name 8528 Burnet Road

    Application was submitted for rezoning from CS to MF-6 the property commonly known as
    Crump Plumbing, 8647 Rockwood Lane (Property ID 250015) and
    Gordon Automotive, 8518 Burnet Road (Property ID 245987), shown on the following map:

    Proposed Zoning Change:
    From: CS– General Commercial Services district is intended predominately for commercial and industrial activities of a service nature having operating characteristics or traffic service requirements generally incompatible with residential environments.

    To: MF -6– Multifamily Residence (Highest Density) district is intended to accommodate multifamily and group residential use. This district is appropriate for highest density housing in centrally located areas near supporting transportation and commercial facilities, in areas adjoining downtown Austin and major institutional or employment centers, and in other selected areas where highest density multifamily use is desirable. MF-6 zoning permits construction up to 90 feet high.

    The case file reflects that 300 apartment units are planned, 195 one bedroom, 75 two bedroom and 30 three bedroom units.
    No hearings have been scheduled at this time. The case is under review by the City Staff.
    This rezoning is now being considered by the NSCNA Development Committee (email to development@nscna.org), and will be considered at the November 4 general membership meeting at Pillow Elementary School.

  • Case Number: C14-2014-0156

    Application was made for rezoning of property at 8611-1/2 and 8627 North Mopac Expressway.
    The property consists of two pieces of property near the current Shoal Crossing Events Center (formerly Harold’s Dress Barn and Red Barn) which is located at 8611 North Mopac Expressway. One is a strip of land between the events center property and the railroad currently used as a parking lot. The other is the driveway and parking area immediately south of the events center. They are currently zoned as LO, and are shown below:

    This rezoning is currently being reviewed by the NSCNA Development Committee and will be considered at the November 4 general membership meeting at Pillow Elementary School. Comments may be submitted by email to development@nscna.org.

    Proposed Zoning Change:
    From: LO-Limited Office district is intended for offices predominately serving neighborhood or community needs, which may be located within or adjacent to residential neighborhoods.

    To: GR – Community Commercial district is intended for office and commercial uses serving neighborhood and community needs, including both unified shopping centers and individually developed commercial sites, and typically requiring locations accessible from major traffic ways.

    Shoal Crossing property is currently zoned GR with CS-1 overlay for the building. NSCNA has been informed that the owners plan to demolish the events center building, consolidate the three parcels into one site and construct a new office building.     Hearings for Case Number C14-2014-0156:
    This application was scheduled to be heard by the Planning Commission on October 28, 2014 at One Texas Center (Conference Room 325) 505 Barton Springs Road beginning at 6:00p.m. On October 28, the hearing was postponed until November 12.

    This application is scheduled to be heard by the City Council on November 20, 2014 at City Hall Council Chambers, 301 West 2nd Street beginning at 2:00p.m.
