    Time: 7 pm
    Location: Frutii Frogurt

Our neighborhood’s May social outing takes place at 7 pm this Wednesday at Frutii Frogurt, located next to Chili’s in the Crossroads Shopping Center. The heat is on and so it’s a perfect time to cool off with a refreshing frozen yogurt treat that you create. We welcome all our neighbors from ages 0 to 99 to join us.

We have 20 percent off coupons for any size cup of yogurt for all who attend. When you arrive, look for our welcome table near the entrance where you can pick up your coupon.

Here is a map showing the location of the event.

    See you all Wednesday!

  • Artsy yard sale sign, by C-Ali on FlickrDate: Saturday, May 22, 2010
Time: 8 am to 1 pm (rain or shine)
Location: At least 38 homes in our neighborhood

We’ve had a record signup this year for the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association Garage Sale Event, with 38 homes signing up to participate. And you know a few more will pop up spontaneously around the neighborhood on Saturday morning, too.

If you want a head start at figuring out your shopping route,  here are two ways you can view a map with addresses of the participating homes:

We’ll have paper copies of the map flyer available at all participating garage sales on Saturday.

Some of our neighbors have been sharing interesting details with me about their sales:

    • 2700 Kerrybrook Lane — Myra and Martin Tenney, who have probably participated in the garage sale event every year NSCNA has hosted it, are selling a variety of collectible children’s books as well as what they elegantly call “junktiques.” In addition, the Tenneys are starting their sale Friday morning if you want a head start on shopping.
    • 2705 Thrushwood Drive — Collectibles and antiques, postcards, costume jewelry, paintings and prints.
    • 8308 Rockwood Lane — The sellers promise lots of plants.
    • 8311 Franwood Lane — After you pick up plants on Rockwood, drive (or walk) around the corner to this sale, which will include many flowerpots.
    • 8208 Sandalwood Cove — I visited Ilene Cossey’s sale last year and enjoyed seeing the variety of gourds she decorates and offers for sale, in sizes from Christmas tree ornaments to “too big for me to carry easily.”
    • 3216 Crosscreek Drive — This sale will feature “collectible vinyl records and (non-collectible) baby clothing.”

If you are having a sale on Saturday and want to tell us more about what you’re offering, please post the details over at the NSCNA Yahoo Group. I’m hoping we’ll share some tips about running garage sales, too.

Want to help plan upcoming neighborhood events? Join us for a Social Committee meeting on Thursday night. We’ll also be making signs for the NSCNA Garage Sale event on Saturday, so we could use one or two artistic volunteers (or people whose talents limit them to helping staple, like Juliette). Contact Alyssa Hedge, Social Committee chair, with any questions at SocialChair@nscna.org. Hope to see you there.
